Characters
Romance in The Blood of Dawnwalker
Three options, zero lockouts, and a system kinder than the setting: romance here is mostly doing their questlines and choosing the dialogue that says you want to stay.
The patient one
Anca
The herbalist from Laslea Glen who teaches Coen to read. Her route is the gentlest — books, tea, and one storm that soaks eleven herbs.
The supernatural one
Lacra
A vrakhir whose vengeance aligns with yours. Hidden until you defeat Ambrus and find a note on his corpse. Driven, dangerous, honest.
The rebel
Crake
Leader of the mortal rebellion against the Vrakhiri — your first meeting involves a knife at your throat. Trust is earned quest by quest.
How the system actually works
- Nothing is missable. No quest or activity can lock you out of a romance. The game's own design documentation (and every community playthrough) confirms it.
- Dialogue is honest. Options that advance a bond read as flirtation; options that decline read as distance. You will know which is which.
- Disagreement is survivable. You can argue with a partner about their methods and still romance them — respect matters, agreement doesn't.
- All three in one run is possible. The real cost is time: quest objectives and turn-ins burn segments. Budget roughly two in-game days per companion and the 30-day clock survives it.
- Romance and endings intersect. Lacra's and Crake's completed questlines gate two of the three good endings — see the endings guide.
FAQ
How many romance options are in The Blood of Dawnwalker?
Three: Anca (the herbalist from Coen's hometown), Lacra (a vrakhir — the only supernatural option) and Crake, the rebel leader also known as Marat.
Can you romance multiple characters in The Blood of Dawnwalker?
Yes. You can pursue all three relationships in one playthrough as long as you budget the time segments for each character's questline. Romance choices are clearly signposted in dialogue.
Can you get locked out of romance in The Blood of Dawnwalker?
No. There are no missable quests or activities that lock you out of a romance. You can disagree with a partner in dialogue and still romance them, as long as you stay respectful to them and their goals.
